We were asked to design a new church hall for the Catholic Church in Cheddar. This was an exciting opportunity in which I worked with a committee rather than individuals.

I wanted the building to feel friendly and welcoming.

We used Kelly to prepare a feasibility study for our new church hall. She listened to our requirements and came up with several designs and an estimate of costs and likelihood of obtaining planning consent. After several meetings we settled on an agreed design and Kelly then prepared the drawings to enable us to go out to tender. Several construction companies provided tender prices and eventually we settled on the quotation from Robinson & Clark Ltd.

We held meetings with both our parishioners and the local community when Kelly presented our designs and plans for the new building. We and Kelly listened to the feedback we received and where possible some changes were incorporated into the final design.

The project involved the demolition of our existing hall and the construction of a new much larger building providing a large hall, a smaller meeting area, an office, commercial kitchen and toilet area. We wanted the building to complement the existing Catholic Church but to provide modern facilities available for the use of the Catholic parish in the Cheddar area together with the local community.

Before building work started and throughout the build period we had monthly site meetings with Kelly and Steve. We were given updates on progress, details of any problems encountered and outlines of the workplans. This gave us great confidence on the build progress which was taking place in the early days of the Covid restrictions with the associated problems created. These were managed in a very professional way by both Kelly and Steve.

The work was completed within the period we expected given the external circumstances outside the control of Robinson & Clark Ltd. The project produced a very impressive New Hall which has added a great resource for the village of Cheddar and its people. We were all very impressed with Kelly and her design and with Steve and his building team. We have no hesitation in recommending both for their professional services and they were both a joy to work with.
